This Hack was not done by me, i'm just translating and tested it. All
greatings to FeRix !
Note **** I will not be responsible of any damage cause by this ****
Requirements :
- 1 Avga 92xx of course
- 1 Radeon 92xx (mine was a Asus A9250TD 128M DDR)
- atiflash.exe, flashrom.exe, Radit 1.7 , Radedit 1.102, an hex editor
- 1 floppy Boot disk
1. Format your floppy disk and make it bootable. Copy atiflash on A:
2. Extract your AVGA Bios with atiflash (atiflash -s 0 avga9200.rom)
3. Extract your Radeon Bios --> radeon9200.rom or .bin (it will be
your backup)
4. Modify rabit.exe and radedit.exe :
with your hex editor find ascii string "761295520" and modify by
"628573322".
Save it in rabit_avga.exe and radedit_avga.exe
5. Edit your avga9200.rom with your hex editor :
+--------+---------+-------+
| Offset | Current | New |
| | Setting | Value |
+--------+---------+-------+
| 0x3E92 | 0x74 | 0x90 |
| 0X3E93 | 0x23 | 0x90 |
| 0x3EAF | 0x75 | 0x90 |
| 0x3EB0 | 0x06 | 0x90 |
+--------+---------+-------+
6. Save your avga9200mod.rom
7. Edit Avga9200mod.rom with radedit_avga.exe (you will have an error
checksum), modify core and memory clock values and save. At this point
you just save with a new correct checksum.
8. Open radeon9200.rom with rabit.exe and avga9200mod.rom with
rabit_avga.exe.
9. Set values for avga9200mod.rom at best with your radeon9200.rom
settings. (CAS settings, ram settings, core clock etc...) and save
your avga9200mod.rom
10. copy this file on your floppy and reboot on dos mode.
to flash your radeon
use 'atiflash.exe -f -p 0 avga9200mod.rom' (i had to use -sst flag for
my asus). In my case flashrom didn't work to bypass asus rom flashing
protection.
11. Well done baby. Thx to FeRix for this hack.
Note : I probably forgot to explain how to do this or that... I
suppose you to know how to use your PC at dos mode etc.
You can try your new radeon at 15khz.
Note 2 : all ultimarc drivers and utilities can be use.
12. You can now reflash your radeon with your radeon9200.rom

Reboot with your floppy
and then type : a:\>atiflash -f -p 0 radeon9200.rom
Note 3 : I tried with a radeon 9250 and had better clock settings
against a AVGA9200 classic.
This method has been tested on a radeon 9000, and Powercolor 9250
with success too.
Probably working with radeon 9xxx
