Aiutino su GameEx

Allora, sono iniziati i problemi con GameEx. Ho configurato il tutto seguendo le guide sparse sul forum, ma al momento dell'avvio di GameEx...
Nel log si legge di abbassare la risoluzione a 16bit. FATTO, nessun risultato.
Ho disabilitato i directdraw, abbassando l'accelerazione hardware...niente di straniente.
Ho provato i temi di defalut, neanche a parlarne. Appena provo a creare la lista dei giochi del MAME succede sto casino. Ho testato le DirectX (è un Win XP SP3) ma niente.
Le DirectX che ho sono le 9.0c. Ho messo in grassetto le parti che mi "puzzano" di più...che può essere? Quickres mi dà una risoluzione di 640*480 a 60hz, e le altre risoluzioni più alte, ma di 15hz non se ne parla proprio. Tra l'altro è tutto collegato al monitor del cab, che è un SELTI. Credo che siano le DirectX...ma non ne sono sicuro

poco fa sembrava funzionare tutto, mi ha creato la lista di giochi...se lo faccio partire da windows, tutto ok.
se parte tramite shell, niente. soliti errori directx.
