Si esatto, i front-end erano solo per conferma, il problema è WinUAELoader.
Detto questo credo sia un problema di lista .xml che non combacia con il pacchetto whload che hai.
Sai dirmi quali whload hai ? in base alla versione dei whload che hai devi trovarti la lista .xml adatta.
Come base ho preso l' xml di questo topic ma ho fatto delle modifiche, ma sono abbastanza convinto di aver fatto tutto bene.
Cerco di spiegare meglio il problema.

Quando apro WinUAELoader e vado su Tools -> Run ROM, mi si apre una lista che arriva fino a 4D Sports Driving e basta. WinUAE si ferma perchè il gioco successivo ha come slave "4DSportsDriving&MstrTrcks.Slave". Se cancello questa riga (e anche 4th & Inches a questo punto) allora WinUAELoader mi vede anche gli altri giochi fino al prossimo slave che ha &, quindi immagino che l' errore sia lì. Ce l' ho solo io questo problema?
